Lisa Liguori talks Take That Tour
Lisa Liguori is a Senior Associate at ET Travel, with over 18 years of experience, this year she is managing the Take That Progress Tour. Below she shares some facts and figures about the tour and gives us an insight into what she does for the tour.
- 36 sold out shows
- 1.75 million fans played to
- 13 venues
- 33 hotels
- Over 8800 room nights
- Over 3800 breakfasts included
13 cities visited: Sunderland, Manchester, Cardiff, Dublin, Glasgow, Birmingham, London, Milan, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Hamburg, Dusseldorf and Munich
Crew members: You wouldn’t think it but that’s a complicated one! There are 105 crew but on top of that there are; the 2 steel crews of about 30 people each and the dancers etc, in total there are over 300 people on tour.
Which is your favourite city that the band is visiting? Ooo so many of the cities they have visited are amazing, both in the UK and in Europe, Manchester is a cool city but I have to say London, it’s my hometown and it is such a great city to live and work in.
Describe what you do for the tour: I am involved in the process from the outset. I gave the production office a list of ET Travel’s preferred hotels in locations near to the venues. Once these had been agreed upon I worked closely with the team and hotels to ensure that we secured the best group rates available as well as ensuring the best rooms etc. From then on I must make sure that the hotels have accurate rooming lists and that no problems arise from these. I also go to each hotel to advance the group, this means I arrive at the hotels earlier than the group to ensure correct room categories have been booked and that key cards are ready for the group’s arrival.
What logistically is the most important thing when organising a tour of this scale? Most definitely being organised on a tour like this there are people in different places at different times, with parts of the crew overlapping on different shows. If you aren’t organised then things can get away from you and that could be a disaster.
What’s your favourite hotel that the crew have stayed in? I think the Hyatt Hamburg. It is perfectly located, in the city but with easy access to the venue. It has everything you can ask for from a four star hotel and the staff there are incredibly helpful.
You did the travel for the bands ‘Circus’ tour as well, how does this tour compare? Both have been really enjoyable. The main difference is this is a much bigger tour so, more locations, more hotels, more people, more that can go wrong! Luckily we have had no major issues and as we are always on hand 24/7 any issue that does arise can be sorted immediately, because of this I have been able to enjoy the larger scale of everything that I have to do.
What has been your favourite moment about the tour so far? I have to say going to see the show. It is always nice to see something that you have been working on come together, especially knowing that I played a role in that. Plus it was a fantastic show, the pyrotechnics were spectacular and the Om was amazing to see.
I would also like to thank the Production Office that make it all happen, they make the whole tour run so smoothly and they have been fantastic to work with.
