My Paris – Kylie’s Tour Manager
Kylie’s tour manager Sean Fitzpatrick has taken time out from organising her next tour to give us an insight into one of his favourite cities.
Favourite Hotel:
It’s a tossup between Hotel Costes and the George V! 2 great hotels for different reasons! Costes for cool and funky and George V for the glamour and sophistication!
Favourite Restaurant:
The Courtyard at The Costes! Great food, the best mashed potato in the world, and amazing ambience. All sorts eat here from French movie stars to musical legends to business people and couples on a romantic trip! The full spectrum of Parisian people
Favourite Shop:
Colette in Rue St Honore close to the Costes! Every funky new gadget and amazing books
Favourite Parisian discovery :
Walking through Paris there is always a surprise and discovery down each street but the best discovery was the most famous flea market in Paris at the Porte de Clignacourt and known to everyone as Les Puces (The Fleas) ! Amazing place for all sorts of mad French stuff!
Favourite club:
The Lido or Crazy Horse! Great fun and classic French old school sexy!
What would you do if you had only had one hour in Paris? :
Walk down the left bank the Paris of artists, writers and philosophers, including Pablo Picasso , Henri Matisse , Jean-Paul Sartre, Ernest Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald through to St Germain and soak up the atmosphere !
First memory of Paris:
First school trip when I was about 12 and it blew me away and was the first city I had been to outside of London and Dublin! Everyone seemed so stylish and sophisticated and I loved listening to everyone speaking French even though my French was so poor .
Best meal you’ve had in Paris?
Café De Flore in St Germain! Fois Gras followed by salad nicoise followed by their world famous hot chocolate! Classic French fare served with just the right amount of arrogance from the waiters at a corner window seat for perfect people watching.
How do you get around when you are in Paris?
Taxis are not so easy in Paris but there are bike stands everywhere now and for a few euro’s you can use them, it’s a great way to get around Paris! Or walking as it’s such a great city to walk around!
What is the most memorable gig in Paris?
The Opening night of Kylie’s X Tour in 08. It was memorable for so many reasons, but mostly because the night before the first show, just before the dress rehearsal the lifts in the stage went bonkers and broke a huge piece of staging. We nearly lost the opening night, but after being up all night and private jetting in various experts from around the world, we managed to rescue the show and it was a triumphant night! I still wake up in a cold sweat about that night and will never forget it.
